This people has baptized this choice with the innocent blood of it martyrs throughout the previous weeks. However, the fact that this choice of the people’s is being faced in means of murder, arrest and siege foresees grave consequences that threaten the civil peace and national unity.

The Syrian people will not be dragged to an outside conspiracy nor to an interior strife, for the unique culture of tolerance and co-existence that the Syrian society has created over many centuries is capable of cornering conspiracies and dissensions of any given source, and the national unity that this Society has made has shown its consistency in all decisive moments of its history.

And now, we stand at a dangerous crossroad, for either we take the road of comprehensive, thorough and deep reforms based on civil liberties, democracy, social justice and fighting corruption, through a comprehensive national dialogue, or we walk into the unknown which threatens the country’s security from the inside as well as outside.

Horan, with its plains and mountains, is part of Syria’s national canvas, majestic in its history and struggles, and Suweida cannot fall behind the strive for freedom and dignity.

The National Action Committee in Suweida believes that the Syrian people’s demands are legitimate and fair, and that this people’s peaceful, nonviolent struggle will reach its goals. The committee herewith states that facing the problem with security crackdowns will only worsen it and push it further from the solution. The act of involving the Syrian national army in the oppression of the peaceful protests entails major threats to the unity of our country, for the army’s mission is to defend the borders of the country and protect its land.

We renounce violence of any kind and source in solving our interior problems, as well as renouncing foreign interference in our affairs.
