The\u00a0coastal\u00a0city of\u00a0Banias is\u00a0one of the first\u00a0cities\u00a0who had\u00a0huge demonstrations in Syria.\u00a0Families including\u00a0men, women,\u00a0youth\u00a0and children\u00a0participated in these demonstrations.\u00a0We do not exaggerate\u00a0if\u00a0we say\u00a0that Banias’s\u00a0demonstrations\u00a0were\u00a0among the\u00a0most\u00a0organized, persistent, and\u00a0creative\u00a0in\u00a0several aspects:\u00a0newscoverage, photos\u00a0and\u00a0video clips\u00a0and this due to\u00a0the active young people\u00a0and\u00a0their eagerness\u00a0to\u00a0deliver\u00a0their voice\u00a0to the world. Also, Banias is\u00a0among the\u00a0first\u00a0cities which\u00a0called for\u00a0toppling the\u00a0regime\u00a0in\u00a0its demonstrations\u00a0in the first days.<\/p>\n

Banias’s people continue their wonderful demonstrations\u00a0until\u00a0thousands of\u00a0army, security\u00a0forces\u00a0and\u00a0Alshabiha men stormed Banias on May, 17th, 2011. Many were killed and many families were displaced since then. The security forces stormed the houses and tortured\u00a0its people,\u00a0and\u00a0they\u00a0arrested not only the majority\u00a0of Banias’s men and youth but also children.\u00a0\u00a0Local Coordination Committees\u00a0of Syria shed light\u00a0on a father and his son who are now detainees in the Syrian prison\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mohammad Othman Sohyooni<\/p>\n

Born 1946, father of a family of 6 sons and 6 daughters from two wives. He is in his 70’s and was working in masonry which caused some illnesses because of his exhausting work. He got a broken shoulder which he never recovered from, and the pain of that fracture remained with him until he was arrested, as he cannot lift his right arm because of it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was detained from his home in a very savage way where his age and illness were never respected. He woke up on the sounds of bullets going through the door locks and the security service agents breaking in without waiting until the family opened the door.<\/p>\n

Mr Othman didn’t commit any crime, he just demonstrated calling for the freedom which he grew old dreaming of. Today he pays for this freedom with his bod, soul, money and children. Security service broke into his home and his children’s homes, looted and broke doors and belongings and ruined food supplies and furniture. Their hidden malice and secularism was clear in their barbaric actions.<\/p>\n

Bassam Mohammad Sohyooni (Abou Abdallah)<\/p>\n

Born in 1972, Scientific high school graduate and studied religion in university, Abou Alnour compound. He obtained a masters in religious science, and then got a PhD from Um Aldarman university in 2011. He was detained since the beginning of the invasion of Banyas. He is married with 3 kids; His wife is also pregnant.<\/p>\n

He never participated in the demonstrations, since demonstrating and demanding freedom seems to be considered as a crime. They broke into his home, looted and destroyed the belongings and furniture. they broke into his home about 5 times.<\/p>\n

His wife and children are left in a dire state as he was the only provider for the family. His mother is in a bad psychological state and suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. She is awaiting his and his father’s return impatiently<\/p>\n
