When the protest entered the souk (grocery market), the protesters formed a human barrier to protect the vegetable and fruit wagens from being harmed by the masses of protesters walking by. The protesters also did the same thing to protect the Syrian Arab Red Crescent headquarters and the Syriatel customer services center. When the protesters reached the Shabiba (Baathist organization for high school students) headquarters, 3 of them tore a picture of the president.
