Mr Al-Saifi, who was detained on 16\/07\/2011, had underwent cardiac catheterisation only 4 days before he was detained.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Al-Saifi was born in 1962, and is an ex-political prisoner who spent 12 years in prison (between 1986-1998) after been accused of belonging to the Workers Communist Party in Syria.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The security forces in Syria had arrested tens of thousands of Syrians (many thousands of whom are still in prison) in their campaign to end the demonstrations that started on 15\/03\/2011.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Syrian observatory for human rights demands the immediate release of the political prisoner Nazeer Al-Saifi and holds the security bureau that is detaining him responsible of any harm. The observatory also denounces the continuation of arbitrary arrests the authorities are undertaking on all political and human right activists as well as all peaceful protesters despite the alleged lift of the State of emergency.
