{"id":32569,"date":"2011-07-28T05:04:00","date_gmt":"2011-07-28T02:04:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T21:00:00","slug":"the-revolutionists-of-qatana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arraee.net\/?p=32569","title":{"rendered":"The revolutionists of Qatana"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>More than ten days after storming the city, Qatana is still under tight security siege till the moment, with more than 1500 of its residents in detention and subject to various kinds of torture and ill-treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Members of security forces and armed Shabbiha are omnipresent in the city and they continue to raid and detain on a daily basis. Checkpoints of the security forces are still present in the addition to two tanks at the entrances to the city.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The ongoing detention of large numbers of young men in Qatana is resulting in a disastrous situation in the city, where families and children are left without a breadwinner, especially in these difficult circumstances since the beginning of the Revolution. \u00a0We emphasize that those who were detained are peaceful demonstrators and among them are our brothers of the Christian community of Qatana, such as Mr. George Sabra and Mr. Nazir Alseifi who is suffering from poor health condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While the people of Qatana denounce the violent crackdown, with which the regime reciprocate to their peaceful demonstrations, they reaffirm that the desperate attempts to abort the uprising in the city will augment their determination to press on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We appeal to the human rights organizations to pay heed to the issue of detainees in Qatana.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We also extend our condolences to our brothers in Kanaker for their martyrs, and we pledge to the Syrian people to stay the course until victory.<\/p>\n<p>28-7-2011<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than ten days after storming the city, Qatana is still under tight security siege till the moment, with more than 1500 of its residents in detention and subject to various kinds of torture and ill-treatment.
