Damascus suburbs: Qatana: Shabiha (regime’s armed thugs) from Army Families neighborhood around the city opened fire at people going out from Mariam Bint Emran mosque after prayer on Saturday 16-7-2011 wounding 40 people, today at 11 AM army and security forces started to storm the city with about 5,000 troops supported by about 25 tanks, of which 18 is for the Presidential Guard, and 7 tanks on Ein Sultan hill, blockades were established outside the city and they open fire at anyone trying to get out of the city, also fire was opened at a mother and her infant, the infant was killed by a bullet in his chest, his name is Mohammad Ahmad Sabbora (7 months old), his mother was wounded by 2 bullets: one in her chest and the other in her mouth.
AlHikma hospital, the only hospital in the city, was closed, nurses were detained and it is not allowed to treat wounded people in the hospital, wounded people were moved to houses and they are out of medical supplies and unable to obtain appropriate medical care
Security forces and shabiha enforced a curfew for just 2 hours between 9 and 11 AM, anyone who went out was detained
Detention raid is still continuing, all males between 18 and 40 are subjects to detention, detainees number is about 500, houses are being stormed
Meanwhile, cars with anti-aircraft auto guns of 14.5 caliber attached to them were heavily opened fire yesterday to intimidate citizens
Life conditions are so bad, each family is allowed to get only one bag of bread (8 loafs), the city is suffering from water shortages with blackouts and partial interruption of communication
