Tripoli city in Lebanon has witnessed on Friday, June 17, bloody events that costed lives of a number of victims. Although this came at the same time of the protests in Syria that continuing since 15 March 2011, the incidents in Tripoli included sectarian conflict which is completely refused in our patriotic uprising for freedom and dignity. This uprising which the regime is trying to push into sectarianism but the people are standing against that by condemning any sectarian behaviour or slogan and by emphasizing the national unity through civil and patriotic practices which were the main characters of the peaceful protests and by giving a special name to each Friday like The Great Friday, Azadi Friday, Saleh Alali Friday whic only show the patriotic nature of the popular uprising of the Syrian people against tyranny and corruption.
The Syrian victory will be achieved only through national unity and the insisting of the values and terms of a state which has heaved up our uprising onto a high level. The regime has tried for several times to manipulate the uprising in order to disfigure the peaceful and civilized appearance of it. We are convinced that any sectarian conflicts in Lebanon will not serve anybody but the Syrian regime which the Lebanese has suffered and still are suffering from. Therefore we stress the importance of the commitment to the principles of the national unity, non-violence, peaceful protests and of overcoming the imposed and narrow shape of a national identity which is wanted to be restricted only to factions, sects and tribals. Our national unity is the only way to put jointly an end of the oppressing, tyrannic and corrupt regime of which both the Syrians and the Lebanese had to suffer from together. May God bless all the victims and maintain the unity of the Lebanese people and their country. As our Palestinian brothers have chanted some days ago during the unfortunate events in the Yarmouk camp: “One, one, one – Syrians and Palestians are one”, we chant today: “One, one, one – Syrians and Lebanese are one”.
