Dier Ezzor: The new mayor issued orders to cut electricity and landlines in the city, he threatened the residents to call on the army if they demonstrated, and he put stationed patrols in Madlaji sq. and the A’amma sq. and made a rumor about scouting patrols to intimidate employees to stay in their departments and not to participate in sit-ins, some schools were prepared to be turned into detention places when needed.
Shahinaz Fakoosh, member in the National Leadership of Baath party, is originally from Dier Ezzor, headed to the city to negotiate with the activists about their demands which she believes to be centered around life demands and providing jobs, and she gave an impression that the Syrian regime is ready to negotiate about anything but toppling the regime, they responded by refusing the dialogue, especially that she don’t have the actual privileges to implement any demand.
Movements and threats from the regime caused a condition of alert and fear of storming the city by security forces and the army like what happened in many other cities
